Originally released in 1988, the updated dragon graphic was created by renowned skateboard artist Sean Cliver, who emulated the style of the master Vernon Courtlandt Johnson (VCJ). The dragon was inspired by Steve Caballero's deep appreciation for Bruce Lee and comic book superheroes. It gained massive popularity after Caballero rode it in the legendary 1989 Powell-Peralta Ban This video.
